Ecological Restoration
B.A. Blackwell and Associates Ltd. have planned and implemented ecological restoration activities for degraded ecosystems and environments across BC. Our team have applied knowledge of restoration ecology, succession, and stand structure to various forest restoration projects, including:
- the mountain pine beetle infestation
- windstorm restoration in Stanley Park
- identification and management of ingrowth and encroachment in dry forest ecosystems of the BC interior
The firm is responsible for the management of second growth stands impacted by mountain pine beetle within the Quesnel, Williams Lake, and 100 Mile House timber supply areas, as part of the Forests for Tomorrow Program. This program includes annual surveys of up to 10,000 hectares of damaged forests, as well as planting, vegetation management, and mechanical site preparation.
